“Blues just ain’t Music Folks! It’s A traditional African American Art form enjoyed by the world. I don’t understand why people feel attacked when that comment is made. It’s a bit disrespectful to not acknowledge African American contribution to The U.S. by simply saying its everyone music. It’s everyone music in the sense we all can enjoy it. But please let’s all acknowledge that we all bring different Ingredients to this American Gumbo.” from Jontavious Willis
FROM my Interview with Talking About The Blues “What inspired you to take your camera and document the Blues?” – my answer to this question:
I feel so many Authentic Bluesmen are either ignored, undervalued,
unappreciated, go undiscovered. I decided to shine a light on them and
their Gospel/Blues brilliance so that people will ask themselves ‘who
are they’, ‘why is someone taking pictures of them’, ‘should I find
out about their music’ ~ and then, will want to buy their music, book
them into venues, interview them, record them, know them while these
Living Legends, these Treasures are still with us.

Each month there’s some sort of EVENT in the Delta .. actually, it seems that fun is to be found on a weekly basis 🙂 I like to stop into CAT HEAD DELTA BLUES and FOLK ART shop, which Roger Stolle owns .. he is a font of information on everything happening in Clarksdale and surrounding areas ie Helena, Memphis, Greenville, Leland etc etc … and find out ‘what’s happenin’ ~ The Guitar store is fine … the Bluesberry Cafe has yummy food and song … the Delta Blues Museum (award winning) is amazingly interesting…Red’s Blues Lounge has Authentic Blues, Authentic BBQ, Authentic ‘Vibe’ …Ground Zero Blues Club is a terrific hangout, with musicians coming on stage to ‘jam’ … the Hambone Gallery (thanks to Stan Street) offers Folk Art, music and a friendly space to ‘kick back’ and enjoy …SO MUCH to see and do … check out Stephen, Shelton & Robert in this awesome vid ~

Thanks for your insight and thoughts … I started this blog to showcase Blues Musicians through my photos and their music found on YouTube – thinking that it would lead Blues fans to their Festivals and CDs (also Vinyl) so that these wonderful musicians would earn recognition, money and acclaim.
