JAMES Son THOMAS of Leland, Mississippi

SON THOMAS was a Folk Artist – NYC Exhibition running August 2015 – and a Blues singer/performer  ~  he was lauded and applauded and since he left his earthly bonds, his son, Pat Thomas, has taken up the Folk Art and Blues guitar playing/singing performances in Mississippi.

AN INSPIRATION TO THE ROLLING STONES, TO ERIC CLAPTON ET AL .. ONE OF THE TOP FIFTY GUITARISTS IN THE WORLD… Howlin’ Wolf’s LEAD guitarist. Hubert is in the BLUES HALL OF FAME.  WHEN HE DIED, THE ROLLING STONES PAID FOR HIS FUNERAL WHILE ERIC CLAPTON PUT ON A BENEFIT SHOW WITH THE BEST OF THE BEST MUSICIANS TO HONOR THIS MAN. I MET HIM IN HIS ‘DRESSING ROOM’ BEFORE A SHOW .. HE KNEW A COUSIN OF MINE .. COULDN’T BE HAPPIER TO MEET ME AS I WAS BLOWN AWAY MEETING MY IDOL. WE CHATTED / LAUGHED .. ONLY HE, I AND HIS MANAGER WERE THERE … WHAT A TERRIBLE LOSS.

SUPERSTAR LEO BUD WELCH BEGAN HIS INTERNATIONAL BLUES CAREER AT AGE 80! TRAVELED THE WORLD PERFORMING -WINNER OF AWARDS -RECORDED TWO ALBUMS WAS WORKING ON HIS THIRD.   ~ I MET HIM AT THE CLARKSDALE JUKE JOINT FESTIVAL SEVERAL YEARS AGO AND CONTINUED TO ATTEND EACH YEAR BECAUSE OF LEO PERFORMING  ~ He passed Dec. 20 2018 at home.

BILBO WALKER – ‘another’ Chuck Berry R.I.P.

BILBO WALKER died today ~ Nov. 29 2017 age 80 – of cancer.
R.I.P. One of the last true Mississippi Delta bluesmen has died. Walker, who was 80 years old, had been undergoing treatment for cancer in California.

CHARLEY BECAME A STAR .. THEY BOTH CO-FOUNDED THE DELTA  BLUES.  SON HOUSE AND WILLIE BROWN MET AT LULA- BECAME BEST FRIENDS .. PLAYED GUITARS TOGETHER – ROBERT JOHNSON WENT TO LISTEN UP IN ROBINSONVILLE MS – PICKED UP A FEW TIPS OVER TWO WEEKS FROM SON HOUSE .. ROBERT JOHNSON BECAME  ‘THE’ Robert Johnson !!  .. STOLE MUSIC HE HEARD/LEARNED FROM SON HOUSE .. DID NOT CREDIT HIM!!
